About Us

We wrote our book and started this website because we believe that pre-meds needed a reliable source for advice and a place to find helpful resources. It is an honor for us to help the next generation of leaders in medicine!

Here is a little more about each of us:

Kirsten E. Kirby, M.S.Ed., served as Assistant Director of Pre-Professional Programs and Advising at Johns Hopkins University and later, as Director of Health Professions Advising at Franklin & Marshall College.  Having advised students at both an elite research university and a liberal arts college, she understands the unique opportunities and challenges each type of institution presents to pre-meds. Ms. Kirby graduated magna cum laude from Smith College and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her Master of Science in Education at University of Pennsylvania.

William M. Kirby, M.D., graduated from Swarthmore College and attended medical school at Penn State University School of Medicine. Dr. Kirby completed his residency training in pathology at Yale University and completed a fellowship at Barnes Hospital.  He is now the Associate Chair of Pathology and Chief of the Autopsy Service for the Christiana Care Health System in Delaware.
